Brinks Home Security Cost: Plans, Equipment, Contracts
As of October 2026, Brinks Home sells online packages for $449 to $899 with monitoring at $39.99 or $54.99 per month, professional installation included, on a minimum 36-month contract. Brinks also lists a $6.40 monthly Cost Recovery Fee. Three years of a starter setup comes to about $2,119 (our arithmetic). Cancel early and you owe the remaining months in full.

How much does Brinks Home cost per month?
Brinks publishes three online packages, each with a set monitoring rate. As of October 2026, from its shop page:
| Package | Equipment price (online, 25% off) | Approx. retail value | Monitoring | What is included |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Security Starter | $449 one-time | $599 | $39.99/mo | Touchscreen panel, 3 door/window sensors, motion sensor |
| Security + Safety Sensors | $699, or $14.56/mo through Affirm | $937 | $39.99/mo | Touchscreen panel, 2 door/window sensors, motion sensor, smoke, CO and water leak detectors |
| Security + Smart Home | $899, or $18.73/mo through Affirm | $1,197 | $54.99/mo | Touchscreen panel, 3 door/window sensors, motion sensor, video doorbell, smart thermostat |
Professional installation is listed as free on all three. Brinks' help center says monitoring starts at $29.99 per month, and that cellular-connected systems cost more to monitor than systems on a home phone line. Its promotional terms tie the $29.99 rate to a minimum equipment purchase of $500 and say that offer is not valid on online orders. The online packages above are priced at $39.99 and $54.99.
On top of monitoring, Brinks lists these account fees in its help center:
| Fee | Amount |
|---|---|
| Cost Recovery Fee | $6.40/mo |
| Paper statement | $5.99/mo (avoid with e-statements) |
| Late payment | $5.00 |
| Returned payment | $25.00 |
| Phone payment with a live agent | $5.95 plus tax |
| Mailed check processing | $1.00 |
The Cost Recovery Fee is the one that changes your real monthly figure. On a $39.99 plan it makes the bill $46.39 before tax (our arithmetic).
What does the Brinks contract say?
Brinks' online order terms are direct: all product purchases require acceptance of a minimum 36-month monitoring contract. Its fee guide describes the contract as usually 36 months and spells out the exit cost: if you cancel early, you pay the remaining monthly fees in full. That is stricter than a percentage-based fee. Cancel a $39.99 plan after 12 months and the remaining 24 months come to $959.76 (our arithmetic). We line this up against other brands in our early termination fee comparison.
Three other published terms are worth reading before you sign:
- Brinks Home Plus is required on many phone promotions. The promotional terms for offers like 25% off equipment, $500 off a panel bundle, or a free video doorbell each require a 36-month contract (starting at $39.99 to $54.99 per month, depending on the offer) and acceptance of Brinks Home Plus, a maintenance plan billed monthly at a fee based on the retail value of your equipment. Brinks does not publish that fee as a dollar figure. Those promotions are not valid on online orders.
- The service plan renews yearly. Brinks' terms for its Extended Service Plan set a 12-month initial term that renews automatically each year, allow the fee to rise once per year after the first term, say payments are non-refundable, and charge 100% of the remaining initial-term payments if you cancel during the first 12 months. Ask whether the Brinks Home Plus plan you are offered is governed by these terms.
- Repair visits cost extra either way. With Brinks Home Plus, each covered technician visit carries a $75 trip fee. Without it, Brinks says standard visits start at $99, and specialized calls run $150 to $250.
One more line item can appear after an alarm: when a burglary alarm is verified and Brinks dispatches a third-party guard, the help center says you pay a Guard Response Fee, typically $50 to $85 per dispatch.
The 3-year total for each package
With a 36-month minimum, the three-year total is the honest price. Package price plus 36 months of monitoring plus the $6.40 Cost Recovery Fee, before tax (our arithmetic):
| Package | Equipment | 36 months of monitoring | 36 months of Cost Recovery Fee | 3-year total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Security Starter | $449 | $1,439.64 | $230.40 | $2,119.04 |
| Security + Safety Sensors | $699 | $1,439.64 | $230.40 | $2,369.04 |
| Security + Smart Home | $899 | $1,979.64 | $230.40 | $3,109.04 |
These assume online pricing, no extra devices, paperless billing, and no Brinks Home Plus. Adding the maintenance plan raises the total by an amount Brinks only gives on a quote.
How that compares with DIY and other pro-install brands is mapped in home security cost per month.
What Brinks only gives by quote
Brinks publishes its package and account-fee prices, but several numbers are still quote-only as of October 2026:
- the monthly fee for Brinks Home Plus (based on your equipment's retail value)
- prices for devices added beyond a package, which Brinks says it shows before you agree
- the trip fee for non-standard installations
- the monitoring difference between cellular and landline systems
- the length of any Affirm financing term behind the $14.56 and $18.73 monthly figures
Brinks says its current panels use Z-Wave and can connect to over 120 smart home devices. If you want to understand the app and panel platforms that pro-install brands build on, and what they mean if you ever switch providers, see what Alarm.com is.
