CPI Security Cost: What CPI Publishes and What It Quotes
We found no published monthly monitoring price on CPI Security's packages, deals or terms pages; CPI quotes each customer. As of October 2026, its terms require credit approval, a monitoring agreement and at least $499 in equipment ($549 to take over an existing wired system). Financing equipment over 39 months at 0% APR ties monitoring to the same 39 months. Installation is free.

How much is CPI Security per month?
We found no monthly monitoring price on CPI's packages page, deals page or terms page as of October 1, 2026. Its packages page sends you to a free quote by phone (800-827-4347) or form. So the honest answer to "how much is CPI per month" is that CPI quotes it individually.
What CPI does publish is the structure around that price:
| Item | What CPI publishes (October 2026) |
|---|---|
| Minimum equipment investment (stated with Smart Pay financing) | $499 |
| Minimum equipment purchase, takeover of an existing system | $549 (CPI takes over up to 20 pre-wired working contacts, depending on package) |
| Financing | CPI Smart Pay: equipment in installments over 39 months at 0% APR, with approved credit |
| Monitoring agreement | Required; under Smart Pay it runs coterminous with the 39-month installment term |
| Installation | Free professional installation; fees may apply for additional exterior cameras |
| Billing | Quoted monitoring rates require monthly ACH draft or annual billing paid upfront |
| Video | in Touch video monitoring supports up to 4 cameras; extra monthly fees may apply beyond 4 |
Two things follow from that table. First, the floor on day one is $499 in equipment (or about $12.79 a month on Smart Pay if you finance only the minimum, our arithmetic) before any monitoring fee. Second, financing equipment through Smart Pay commits you to monitoring for 39 months, which is three months longer than a 36-month term.
What CPI's packages include
CPI lists three package routes, and all of them include 24/7 monitoring, its Real Time Response service and free professional installation:
| Package | Listed equipment |
|---|---|
| Essentials | SmartHub security panel, motion sensor, 4 door/window sensors, fire communicator, Spotlight Camera Pro, Essentials video doorbell, indoor camera, Night Guard |
| Essentials Pro | Same as Essentials, with a Floodlight Camera Pro in place of the Spotlight Camera Pro |
| Custom | Build from smart thermostat, smart lock, garage door controller, video doorbell pro, water shut-off valve, glass break sensors, lighting controls and more |
None of the three shows a price. On October 1, 2026 CPI advertised a limited-time offer of 3 free cameras with the Essentials package; its deals page says the three are the Spotlight Camera Pro, Essentials Video Doorbell and Indoor Camera, the cameras already listed in that package, so ask what the quote charges for the rest.
Night Guard, included in both Essentials packages, is what CPI calls its premium nighttime service: when an emergency is detected overnight, a person assesses it and dispatches help without waiting for you to respond. CPI does not publish a separate price for it.
Installation requires proof of homeownership or a signed permission letter from the property owner or manager, and a keyless lock may need a locksmith. CPI's video service also has bandwidth minimums: 650 Kbps of upload for the first camera, 250 Kbps for each additional camera, and 2 Mbps for the doorbell and 180 indoor cameras.
Contract, warranty and false alarm terms
CPI's terms require a monthly monitoring agreement but, on the pages we checked, do not state a standard length for customers who pay cash for equipment, and we could not find a published early termination formula on the pages we checked. Ask for both in writing. Our early termination fee comparison shows how other brands publish theirs, which is a useful benchmark for what to ask.
Other published terms:
- Warranty: systems with in Touch monitoring include CPI's Service Plus Program; Basic Security includes CPI's Basic Warranty Program. CPI does not publish what each costs or covers in dollar terms on the terms page.
- No False Alarm Guarantee: CPI credits your account for a false alarm fine only when the fine was caused by a system malfunction or CPI's error, on its Real Time Response system. User error, unregistered systems and permit fines are excluded, and you still pay the fine to the city yourself.
- Insurance: CPI's terms say homeowners insurance discounts for monitored intrusion and fire systems vary by insurer and tell you to ask your insurer.
Alarm permits are a separate cost from your city, not CPI. If you are in Charlotte, our Charlotte home security guide covers the mandatory alarm registration and the city's burglary figures.
How to get a comparable number
Because CPI's monthly price only comes by quote, the practical move is to get its quote and a comparison quote with the same terms spelled out. Ask CPI for:
- the monthly monitoring rate for your exact package, after any promotional months
- the agreement length if you pay cash, and if you use Smart Pay
- the early termination formula
- whether any camera beyond four adds a monthly fee
- what the warranty program covers and whether service visits carry a trip charge
For reference points, ADT publishes only starting figures and quotes the rest, which is the closest pattern to CPI; see what ADT monitoring costs. Brands that publish full price lists are mapped in home security cost per month.
We can fetch real quotes from professional monitoring providers through a short questionnaire, which gives you a second number to hold CPI's quote against.
