ADT does not publish one simple price list. Its own pages show different starting prices depending on the offer and the install path, so here is what ADT's site says as of August 2026:

All pro install plans (Secure, Smart, and Complete Monitoring) include 24/7 intrusion monitoring; the Complete tier adds live video monitoring with 30 days of stored clips via Nest Aware. Equipment is priced separately, and the current headline promotion (two Google Nest Cams plus $250 off) requires a minimum $349 professionally installed system purchase and a 36 month monitoring plan starting at $59.99/mo.

Run the term math before signing. At $49.99/mo, a 36 month term totals $1,799.64 in monitoring fees. At the $59.99/mo promo tier, it totals $2,159.64. The contract is the real price tag

ADT's residential terms require a 36 month monitoring contract for professionally installed systems (24 months in California). If you cancel early, ADT's terms state it may charge 75% of the monthly service charges due for the balance of the initial term. Cancel a $59.99/mo plan with 24 months remaining and that clause works out to $1,079.82.

There are two escape hatches, both narrow. First, ADT offers a 6 month money back guarantee, but only after ADT has attempted and failed to resolve a system related issue within the first six months, and it requires continuous payment of both monitoring and the Quality Service Plan, plus return of the equipment. It is a defect remedy, not a trial period. Second, the Self Setup route requires only a one month minimum of professional monitoring, so the DIY path avoids the multi-year commitment entirely.

The contract math is why the buy decision depends heavily on your time horizon. Monitoring contracts are typically tied to the home's location, and ADT's own moving guidance says that in most cases you have to deal with your existing contract when you move.

Worth it if, not worth it if

ADT is worth considering if:

• You want professional installation and someone else to own the setup and service problem.
• You will stay in the home at least 36 months, so the contract term is a non-issue.
• You value ADT's monitoring infrastructure claims (six company operated US monitoring centers, per ADT) and are willing to pay a premium over DIY-installed competitors for them.
• Your insurer offers a discount for professionally monitored systems, which claws back part of the monthly fee.

ADT is probably not worth it if:

• You might move or cancel within three years. The 75% early termination clause makes ADT one of the most expensive systems to walk away from among the providers covered on this site.
