Is Frontpoint Worth It? The Math on Its Published Prices
Frontpoint is worth it if you want DIY-installed professional monitoring and will keep it three years. Its regular monitoring rates are $44.99 or $49.99 a month on a 36-month contract, and leaving early can cost 80% of the remaining monthly charges. If you might move or cancel, a no-contract system is cheaper to leave.

What does Frontpoint cost?
Frontpoint publishes its plan menu and its regular rates in its offer terms. As of October 2026:
| Plan | Regular monthly rate | Day rate shown on the plans page | What it covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ultimate Monitoring | $49.99/mo | as low as $1.65/day | 24/7 intrusion, fire, CO and flood monitoring, app control, live and recorded video, home automation |
| Interactive Monitoring | $44.99/mo | as low as $1.48/day | 24/7 intrusion, fire, CO and flood monitoring, app control, no video features |
| Video-Only | from $14.99/mo | as low as $0.50/day | Self-monitored live and recorded video, no professional intrusion monitoring |
All three are governed by a 36-month contract, per Frontpoint's offer terms. The day rates on the plans page are labeled "as low as", so treat the monthly figures in the offer terms as the regular price.
Equipment is bought up front. During its current Fall Savings Event, Frontpoint lists a $69 Essential Home Security System and a $269 Total Home Security System, described as limited-time pricing with no end date given. New customers on a 36-month Ultimate plan also get 40% off additional equipment, an offer dated through November 5, 2026. Phone (telesales) orders on the Ultimate plan can also get special pricing of $24.99 a month plus one free month, valid through the same date. The offer text we read does not say how long the $24.99 rate lasts, so ask before you sign.
Three-year totals at regular rates, by our arithmetic:
| Setup | Equipment | 36 months of monitoring | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential system + Interactive | $69 | $1,619.64 | $1,688.64 |
| Total system + Ultimate | $269 | $1,799.64 | $2,068.64 |
Taxes are extra. For how those totals sit against the wider market, see home security cost per month, and for a full line-by-line breakdown see Frontpoint cost.
What does it cost to leave a Frontpoint contract early?
This is the number that decides whether Frontpoint is worth it for you. Frontpoint's offer terms say early termination of the 36-month contract may result in a fee of 80% of the monthly charges for the remainder of the term.
| Months left on contract | Ultimate at $49.99 | Interactive at $44.99 |
|---|---|---|
| 30 | $1,199.76 | $1,079.76 |
| 24 | $959.81 | $863.81 |
| 12 | $479.90 | $431.90 |
Those are our calculations from the published 80% rate and regular prices; a discounted plan would produce a smaller figure.
There is a real exit window at the start. Frontpoint's 30-day risk-free trial lets you return the complete system for a full refund if the return is postmarked within 30 days of the day you received it. Returns postmarked later, or missing equipment, may face a restocking fee of up to $150. Once the 30 days pass, the contract math above applies.
Frontpoint also offers a 3-year limited equipment warranty for active customers in good standing, which lines up with the contract term.
Is Frontpoint better than ADT?
On paper the two land close together. ADT's pages list professionally installed monitoring starting at $45.99 to $56.99 a month on a 36-month contract, and ADT's residential terms allow it to charge 75% of the remaining monthly charges if you cancel early. Frontpoint's regular rates are $44.99 and $49.99 on a 36-month contract with an 80% early termination charge.
| Frontpoint | ADT | |
|---|---|---|
| Install | DIY | Professional (or ADT Self Setup) |
| Monitored plan pricing | $44.99 to $49.99/mo regular | from $45.99 to $56.99/mo pro install, per ADT pages |
| Contract | 36 months | 36 months for pro install (24 in California) |
| Early termination | up to 80% of remaining charges | up to 75% of remaining charges |
Of the two, by published terms, Frontpoint costs about the same per month and is slightly more expensive to leave. The real difference is who installs it. ADT's Self Setup path requires only a one month minimum of monitoring, which makes it the more flexible ADT option. The side-by-side detail is in ADT vs Frontpoint, and the no-contract comparison is in Frontpoint vs SimpliSafe.
Who should pick Frontpoint, and who should not
Frontpoint fits if:
- You are comfortable installing sensors yourself and want 24/7 professional monitoring for intrusion, fire, CO and flood.
- You will stay at the address for at least three years, so the contract never bites.
- You can buy during a promotion, when the equipment cost drops to the figures above.
Look elsewhere if:
- You might move, rent, or cancel within three years. The 80% clause is steeper than ADT's published 75%.
- You want month-to-month monitoring. SimpliSafe, Cove and Abode publish no-contract plans; see cheapest professional monitoring.
- You are not sure you need a monitoring center at all. Start with is professional monitoring worth it.
Frontpoint's lowest published monthly rate is a phone offer, so the honest way to judge it is against other real quotes. Our quote tool collects quotes from professional monitoring providers through a short questionnaire, which gives you a number to hold the Frontpoint offer against.
