Abode Monitoring Cost: Free, Standard and Pro Plans (2026)
As of October 2026, Abode professional monitoring (the Pro plan) costs $26.99 per month or $245.99 per year, about $20.50 a month when paid annually. The Standard self-monitoring plan is $8.49 per month or $79.99 per year. The free tier keeps the app, live video and smart home integrations. No plan requires a contract.

How much is Abode monitoring per month?
Abode has three tiers. Prices as of October 2026, from Abode's plans page:
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Annual, per month (our arithmetic) | Monitoring |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| No subscription | $0 | $0 | $0 | You watch alerts yourself |
| Standard | $8.49/mo | $79.99/yr | $6.67 | Self-monitoring with extra features |
| Pro | $26.99/mo | $245.99/yr | $20.50 | 24/7 professional monitoring from a US-based center, 4G cellular backup |
Annual billing is the better deal on both paid plans. Paying Pro monthly for a year costs $323.88 against $245.99 upfront, a $77.89 difference. On Standard the gap is $101.88 against $79.99, or $21.89 (our arithmetic).
Abode says both monthly plans are free for the first month when you buy a Security Hub, and that every plan is contract-free: you can upgrade, downgrade or cancel from the app with no cancellation fee, and switching off an annual plan is prorated.
One inconsistency to know about: Abode's plan FAQ says paid plans start "at $7/month", while the Standard plan is listed at $8.49 monthly. The $7 figure appears to reflect annual billing ($79.99 a year is about $6.67 a month), but Abode does not spell that out.
What the free tier keeps and what Standard and Pro add
Abode's system works without any subscription. Per its plans FAQ, with no plan you still get full app access, live video from connected cameras, smart home integrations with Apple HomeKit, Alexa and Google Home, and real-time push notifications.
Standard ($8.49/mo or $79.99/yr) is for self-monitoring. Abode lists an extended event timeline, AI smart detection from cameras (people, packages and pets), rich notifications with device names, free ground shipping, and insurance discount eligibility. Abode's page gives the timeline length as 30 days in its FAQ and 10 days in its comparison chart, so confirm before relying on either.
Pro ($26.99/mo or $245.99/yr) adds the parts that matter in an emergency: 24/7 professional monitoring from a US-based center that contacts police, fire or EMS for you, automatic alarm forwarding to that center, and 4G cellular backup so the system stays connected when your internet drops. Without Pro, Abode says the siren still sounds and sensors still trigger locally during an internet outage, but you get no remote notifications until the connection returns.
That is the real tradeoff between the tiers. On Standard or the free tier, a triggered alarm depends on you seeing the alert and calling for help. Our guide on whether professional monitoring is worth it covers when that is acceptable and when it is not.
Video add-ons are priced separately:
| Add-on | Price (October 2026) |
|---|---|
| 24/7 continuous recording, 10 days of history | $9.99/month per camera |
| Camera-only plan (cameras, no security hub) | $3.99/month per camera |
Abode also markets the plans as qualifying for homeowners and renters insurance discounts. Whether you get one, and how much, depends on your insurer; see does home security lower insurance before counting on it.
Abode equipment cost and the yearly totals
Abode sells its kits outright. On October 1, 2026, its shop listed the main kits at 50% off, with a condition: the discount applies when you check out with a monthly Pro plan, and removing the plan removes the discount.
| Kit | Regular price | Sale price with monthly Pro plan |
|---|---|---|
| Abode Security Kit | $150 | $75 |
| Smart Security Kit | $240 | $120 |
| Iota All-In-One Security Kit | $399 | $199 |
Individual sensors are also listed, for example the Mini Door/Window Sensor at $15.99 (regular $29.99) and the Motion Sensor at $29.99 (regular $39.99) on the same date.
Yearly and 3-year totals for monitoring, before equipment and tax (our arithmetic):
| Plan | 1 year | 3 years |
|---|---|---|
| Free tier | $0 | $0 |
| Standard, annual | $79.99 | $239.97 |
| Standard, monthly | $101.88 | $305.64 |
| Pro, annual | $245.99 | $737.97 |
| Pro, monthly | $323.88 | $971.64 |
Because the kit discount is tied to the monthly Pro plan, the two ways to buy a Smart Security Kit with three years of Pro land close together: $120 plus 36 months of monthly Pro is $1,091.64, while the full $240 plus three years of annual Pro is $977.97 (our arithmetic). Over three years, paying full price for the kit and billing Pro annually costs $113.67 less. The market-wide comparison is in home security cost per month.
How Abode compares
