Xfinity Home Security Cost: Plans, Contract, Internet Rules
As of October 2026, Xfinity Home Security costs $55 a month for professional monitoring, a price that includes a $10 monthly Xfinity Internet discount. Equipment is extra: $360, $480 or $600, or $15 to $25 a month over 24 months interest-free. Cellular and battery backup cover outages, but Xfinity can end service if you drop broadband.

What Xfinity Home Security costs per month
Xfinity now sells two home products under its Home Solutions page. As of October 2026:
| Product | Published price | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Xfinity Home Security | $55/mo | 24/7 professional monitoring, pro installation, touchscreen with cellular and battery backup |
| Shield Select | $15/mo | Self-monitoring: an indoor camera, a door/window sensor, 24/7 urgent response and cloud video storage; no professional monitoring; requires Xfinity Internet and a Gateway |
The $55 figure carries a footnote: it includes a $10 a month discount with Xfinity Internet, equipment is sold separately, and taxes and fees are extra. Xfinity does not print the price without the discount on that page; by the footnote's own math, a customer who does not get the internet discount would pay more than $55.
Xfinity's support pages add that Home Security includes up to a week of recorded video in cloud storage and recommend a broadband connection of at least 0.75 Mbps upload and download.
What the equipment costs
Equipment is bought, not bundled into the monitoring fee. Xfinity offers three systems, each payable up front or in 24 interest-free monthly installments:
| System | One-time price | Or monthly for 24 months | What is included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base Home System | $360 | $15/mo | Touchscreen, 3 door/window sensors, 1 pet-friendly motion sensor, yard sign |
| Complete Home System | $480 | $20/mo | Base contents with 5 door/window sensors, plus a wireless keypad and 1 HD indoor/outdoor camera |
| Ultimate Home System | $600 | $25/mo | Base contents with 10 door/window sensors, plus a keypad and 2 HD indoor/outdoor cameras |
Add-ons are listed individually: indoor camera $60, indoor/outdoor camera $120, video doorbell $120, door/window sensor $20, motion sensor $40 and outlet controller $50. Xfinity notes that the video doorbell, smoke detector, motion sensor and door/window sensors require pro installation.
Put together, the cheapest published setup is the Base system at $15 a month plus $55 a month of monitoring, or $70 a month for the first 24 months (our arithmetic, before taxes and fees). After the installments end, you pay the monitoring fee only. Xfinity offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, and its installation agreement says it refunds the first 30 days of the monthly fee and any standard installation charge if you cancel within that window.
We could not find a published contract length or early termination fee for Xfinity Home Security on Xfinity's product pages or in its current residential alarm agreement. The equipment installment agreements are separate documents, so ask how an unpaid installment balance is handled if you cancel.
Does Xfinity Home work without internet?
Partly, and only for a while. Xfinity says cellular and battery emergency backup are built into the touchscreen so the system stays connected during outages. Its alarm agreement says the system depends on cellular service as a backup to the primary transmission systems, and tells customers to test the system weekly and after any storm, power outage or transmission outage, because the monitoring center will not receive signals if the transmission paths are not working.
The longer-term answer is in the same agreement. Xfinity lists failing to maintain a broadband Internet connection compatible with the service, as Xfinity determines, among the reasons the company may terminate the agreement. In other words, the backup covers an outage; it is not a way to run Xfinity Home Security without home internet. If your household is moving away from wired internet, our guide to home security without internet covers systems built for cellular-only use, and landline vs cellular monitoring explains the transmission paths.
Two more agreement terms worth knowing: for the first seven days after installation, emergency responders are not contacted on intrusion alarms (a familiarization period), and if you do not return Comcast-owned equipment after service ends, the agreement allows a $9.95 monthly charge until it is returned or, if you end all Comcast services, a one-time charge of up to $250.
How Xfinity compares on published price
At $55 a month with the internet discount, Xfinity's monitoring sits between ADT's two published starting rates, $45.99 a month to reactivate an existing system and $59.99 a month for a new pro-install system (both on 36-month terms, per ADT's current offer terms), and above many month-to-month DIY plans. The ADT monitoring cost guide has the ADT detail, and home security cost per month maps the whole market.
Xfinity's case is convenience for existing Comcast customers: one bill, a professional install, and equipment you own after 24 payments. If you want to compare that against other professional monitoring providers in your area, we can fetch quotes through a short questionnaire.
